The finish. The metallic version has sparkle woven into the yarn. This one is semi-matte — no sparkle, no metallic, just a clean low-key surface. Same weight, same reinforced structure, different look. Pick sparkle if you want shimmer. Pick semi-matte if you want understated.
2. Polyester vs nylon reinforced mesh — what's the difference?
Fiber and hand feel. Nylon is softer and drapier, with a subtle natural sheen. Polyester, like this one, is drier and crispier, with a matte or semi-matte finish. It holds a crease better and resists wrinkles. Both are reinforced weaves at the same weight. If you want soft and flowy, go nylon. If you want clean, crisp, and structured, go polyester.
3. 28gsm — how do you handle something this light?
Gently, but the reinforced weave makes it more cooperative than standard mesh at the same weight. Polyester has less give than nylon, so it's slightly more stable on the cutting table. Lay it flat when cutting. Don't yank it through the machine. Use tissue paper under the fabric when sewing — it stabilizes the fabric and tears away clean when you're done.
