Is it tough? Does it last?
Nylon with spandex holds its own. The four-way stretch structure provides solid recovery — it won't bag out, sag, or lose its shape after repeated wear and washing. Nylon resists abrasion better than polyester at this weight, so it handles regular use without pilling or thinning. At 80gsm, it's light but not fragile. 1. What does "high-stretch four-way" mean? How is it different from regular stretch mesh?
Four-way stretch means the fabric stretches in all four directions — lengthwise, crosswise, and diagonally. Regular stretch mesh typically has two-way stretch. The "high-stretch" part means there's a high percentage of spandex, giving it more power and faster recovery. The result: it moves with the body in every direction and snaps right back. Good for activewear and pieces that need to handle intense movement.
2. How is this different from your 85gsm nylon spandex meshes?
Same weight class, different structure. The 85gsm 4040 mesh has 6% spandex — a gentle flex for casual wear. The 85gsm 22140 power mesh has 28% spandex — firm compression for serious hold. This 80gsm high-stretch mesh sits in between — strong elasticity without the intense compression. It's built for activewear and base layers rather than shapewear or compression garments.
3. How is this different from your 104gsm polyester spandex Korean mesh?
Fiber and structure. The 104gsm Korean mesh is polyester — drier, crispier, with a classic even-hole structure built for fashion jackets and structured pieces. This 80gsm nylon mesh is softer, stretchier, and more comfortable against the skin — built for activewear and intimates. Pick Korean mesh for structured fashion. Pick this high-stretch mesh for movement and comfort.
4. 80gsm — is this see-through? Do I need a lining?
At 80gsm, it's lightweight and breathable. For most activewear and base layers, it provides good coverage. If you're making something in a very light color and want extra security, a lining is always a good backup. For darker colors, it covers well without needing anything underneath. The dense four-way structure also helps with coverage compared to more open mesh constructions.
5. 137cm wide — is that narrower than your other fabrics?
Yes, 137cm is narrower than our standard 150-160cm fabrics. This is specific to the 40D high-stretch construction. For most activewear and intimate apparel pieces, the width is workable — you'll just want to plan your cutting layout accordingly. If you need a wider width for larger pieces, our 160cm nylon spandex meshes are available.
6. Can I use this for swimwear?
It has stretch and nylon content, but it's not specifically designed for prolonged chlorine or saltwater exposure like our dedicated swimwear fabrics. For occasional water use, it'll hold up. For competitive or frequent pool use, we recommend our swimwear-specific options with chlorine resistance built in.
7. Is this fabric suitable for medical or healthcare applications?
No. Our fabrics are designed and produced for activewear, intimates, base layers, and related uses. We do not currently manufacture or supply fabrics for medical, filtration, or industrial applications. If you need medical-grade textiles, we recommend consulting a specialist supplier.
