Nylon at 35gsm holds up well for everyday apparel and lining use. Won't shrink, won't wrinkle much, comes out of the wash looking the same. Cuts cleanly without fraying, sews without bunching. For linings, blouses, and dresses that get regular wear, it's reliable. Not built for heavy-duty outdoor use, but for what it's made for, it does the job.

1. 35gsm — where does this sit in your nylon plain weave range?

Right in the middle. We have lighter options at 15gsm and 17gsm for delicate linings and overlays. We have heavier options at 50gsm and 120gsm for structured pieces and outerwear. This 35gsm is the sweet spot for everyday linings and lightweight apparel — more body than the ultralight versions, less bulk than the heavier ones.

2. How is this different from your 17gsm nylon plain weave?

Weight and coverage. The 17gsm is lighter, sheerer, better for delicate linings where you want the fabric to disappear. This 35gsm version has more body — better for structured pieces and applications where you need the lining to hold its own shape. Same smooth nylon hand feel, just more substance.

3. Is this see-through? Do I need a lining?

At 35gsm, it gives decent coverage for most applications. For a lightweight blouse or dress, it's fine on its own. If you're using it as a lining, it's perfect — not too sheer, not too heavy. If you're making something in white or a very light color, a lining is a good backup for extra security. For most applications, it's opaque enough without one.

4. No stretch — will that feel uncomfortable?

It has no elastane, but the smooth nylon surface and good drape make it comfortable for loose-fitting and relaxed pieces. It glides over the skin instead of clinging. Just don't try to make leggings or fitted activewear out of it — you'll want our stretch fabrics for that. This one's about flow and comfort, not compression.

5. Can this be used for outdoor applications?

It's fine for lightweight outdoor garments like summer cover-ups or scarves. But it's not a performance outdoor fabric — no UV protection, no water resistance, no special durability treatments. For outdoor gear and technical applications, you'd want something from our functional textile range.

6. Is this fabric suitable for medical or healthcare applications?

No. Our fabrics are designed and produced for apparel, linings, accessories, and craft uses. We do not currently manufacture or supply fabrics for medical, filtration, or industrial applications. If you need medical-grade textiles, we recommend consulting a specialist supplier.
