How does it feel?
30gsm polyester single-face knit fabric. Stupid light — you pick it up and barely know it's there. It's a single-face construction, so one side is smooth and flat, while the other has a subtle knit texture. Not a mesh, not a woven — this is a knit, so it has a natural softness and drape that flat woven fabrics don't. 150cm wide, 22 yards per kilo. If you need something that breathes, feels smooth against the skin, and practically floats, this is it. Light as air, soft as a cloud.
Is it tough? Does it last?
It's 30gsm — let's be real, it's not built for heavy-duty use. But it's not as fragile as it looks. Polyester holds its shape, resists wrinkles, and won't shrink in the wash. The knit structure gives it a bit of natural give without any elastane — it moves with you rather than fighting against you. Handle it with a light touch when cutting and sewing. Once it's in place as a lining or cover-up, it holds up fine. Not for daily-wear pieces that take a beating. This one's for whispering, not wrestling.

1. What's the difference between this and your polyester woven fabrics?
The knit structure. This single-face knit is softer, drapier, and has more natural give than our woven polyester fabrics. Woven fabrics are flat and structured — good for crisp linings and pieces that need to hold their shape. This knit is all about softness, breathability, and a gentle, fluid drape. It feels more like a lightweight T-shirt material.
2. Does this have any stretch? There's no spandex listed.
No elastane, but the knit structure itself gives it a bit of natural mechanical stretch — it flexes with the body without losing its shape. It won't stretch as much as a spandex blend, but it's not rigid like a woven. If you need strong four-way stretch, look at our nylon spandex mesh fabrics. If you want just a hint of natural give, this works well.
3. Is this see-through? Do I need a lining?
At 30gsm, it's on the sheer side. For lightweight cover-ups and scarves, it's perfect on its own. For linings, it's great — light enough not to add bulk. If you're using it as a main fabric for a garment, you'll want something underneath depending on the look you're going for and the color you choose.
4. Can I use this for activewear or swimwear?
No. This is a lightweight knit designed for linings, cover-ups, and apparel. It has no chlorine resistance, no compression, and isn't built for high-intensity movement. If you need activewear fabric, we have nylon spandex options with higher stretch. For swimwear, we have a full range of chlorine-resistant fabrics.
5. How do you handle something this light when cutting and sewing?
Gently, but it's not as tricky as ultralight mesh. The knit structure gives it more stability than woven fabrics at the same weight — less slipping and sliding. Lay it flat when cutting. Don't yank it through the machine. Use tissue paper under the fabric when sewing delicate seams — it stabilizes the fabric and tears away clean when you're done. Once you get used to the weight, it handles fine.
6. Is this the same as your polyester meshes?
No. Mesh has an open net structure with visible holes — it's designed for breathability and airflow. This single-face knit is a solid fabric with no holes, just a smooth surface on one side and a knit texture on the other. Different structure, different hand feel, different purpose. Mesh is for when you want to see through it. This knit is for when you want something solid but light.
