Not coated. Smooth-face means the fabric surface has been finished to be extra slick and silky to the touch. It's a mechanical finish on the nylon yarn, not a chemical coating. The smoothness won't wash out or wear off — it's part of how the fabric is made.

2. 160gsm — is this heavy or light?

Mid-weight. Heavier than our lightweight linings and base fabrics (which run 15-40gsm), but lighter than our heavyweight swimwear fabrics (200gsm and up). It's a good weight for apparel that needs to drape well and feel substantial without being bulky. Think of it as the weight of a good dress shirt.

3. No stretch — will that feel uncomfortable?

It has no elastane, but the silky smooth surface and good drape make it very comfortable for loose-fitting and relaxed pieces. It glides over the skin instead of clinging. Just don't try to make leggings or fitted activewear out of it — you'll want our stretch fabrics for that. This one's about flow, not compression.

4. Is this see-through? Do I need a lining?

At 160gsm, it gives solid coverage. For most dresses, blouses, and skirts, it's fine on its own. If you're making something in white or a very light color and want extra security, a lining never hurts. But for most applications, it's opaque enough to wear without one.

5. How does this compare to your polyester plain weaves?

Different fiber, different hand feel. Polyester is drier and crispier. Nylon, like this Migao fabric, is silkier, softer, and has a more fluid drape. It also has a slight natural sheen that polyester doesn't. If you want crisp and structured, go polyester. If you want silky and flowy, go nylon.

6. Can this be used for activewear or swimwear?

No. This is an apparel and lining fabric with no stretch and no chlorine resistance. It's not built for the water or for high-movement activity.
