How does it feel?
140gsm nylon spandex anti-odor swimwear fabric. 36% elastane — you feel the stretch the moment you pull it. Strong, responsive, snaps right back like it means it. But it's not just about the stretch. The fabric has a super-fine, smooth surface — feels sleek against the skin, not rubbery or thick. Double-face design means both sides look good. You can use either side as the face. 140cm wide. The anti-odor function is built into the yarn itself — not a spray, not a coating. It lives in the fiber. If you need a swimwear fabric that performs at a pro level and stays fresh longer, this is it.
Is it tough? Does it last?
Built for serious pool time. Nylon handles chlorine and saltwater. 36% spandex gives it rock-solid recovery — it won't bag out, sag, or lose its shape after repeated wear and washing. The anti-odor function is permanent — it's in the yarn, not a finish that washes out after a few cycles. The free-cut feature means the edges won't fray or curl. You can cut it and leave the edge raw — no hemming, no binding, no overlock. It just sits flat. For competitive swimwear and training suits that get worn hard and washed often, this fabric goes the distance. Not the kind that quits after one season.
What can I make with it?
Competitive swimwear, serious training suits, high-intensity aquatic sportswear. Yoga wear and sports bras that benefit from the anti-odor function. Pieces where you want to skip the hemming and let the raw edge be the finish. If you need a fabric that performs and keeps performing — stretch, recovery, odor control, chlorine resistance — this is it. For lighter training or casual swimwear, we have options with lower spandex content. For maximum compression, pair this with our 200gsm and above swimwear fabrics.
FAQ
1. What does "anti-odor" mean here? Is it a spray or a coating?
Not a spray. Not a coating. The anti-odor function is built into the nylon yarn itself — the antimicrobial properties are part of the fiber, so they won't wash out or fade over time. The fabric actively resists the bacteria that cause odors, keeping the garment fresher for longer between washes. This is particularly useful for swimwear and activewear that gets worn hard and washed frequently. Unlike topical treatments that wear off after a few cycles, this one stays effective for the life of the fabric.
2. 36% spandex — is this the highest stretch fabric you have?
Close to it. We have one fabric with 40% spandex, but this one at 36% is right up there. The stretch is strong and responsive — pulls over 2x crosswise and snaps right back. It's built for compression and recovery. If you need firm, locked-in support that doesn't bag out, this delivers. For everyday casual swimwear, a lower spandex content might feel more relaxed. For performance, this is the level you want.
3. What does "double-face" mean? Can I really use both sides?
Yes. The fabric is engineered so both sides have a clean, finished appearance. Unlike single-face fabrics where the back side looks obviously different, this one is reversible. You can cut and sew with either side facing out. This gives designers more flexibility — use one side for the main body and the other for contrast panels, or let the end user choose which side they prefer.
4. Does the anti-odor function work in chlorinated water?
Yes. Chlorine kills some bacteria, but not all of them — and it doesn't stay on the fabric after you get out of the pool. The anti-odor function in the yarn works alongside chlorine exposure to keep the fabric fresher between washes. It's not a replacement for washing, but it means the suit won't develop that lingering odor that sometimes sticks to activewear even after a wash cycle.
5. Is this fully opaque? Do I need a lining?
Yes, fully opaque at 140gsm. No lining needed. You can use it for competitive swimwear, training suits, and yoga wear without worrying about transparency, even in lighter colors. The double-face construction also helps with coverage.
6. Can I really skip hemming? What about durability?
The free-cut edge is designed to be left raw. It won't fray or curl under normal wear and washing. For competitive swimwear and activewear, the raw edge holds up well. If you're making a piece that will be pulled and stretched aggressively at the edges, a light binding adds extra security — but for most applications, the raw edge is fine on its own.
7. Is this fabric suitable for medical or healthcare applications?
No. Our fabrics are designed and produced for swimwear, activewear, and sportswear uses. We do not currently manufacture or supply fabrics for medical, filtration, or industrial applications. If you need medical-grade textiles, we recommend consulting a specialist supplier.
