170gsm nylon spandex ribbed knit. The surface has a fine horizontal stripe — not a bold ridge, more like a subtle line texture running across the fabric. Run your hand over it and you can feel the slight grain. The hand feel is smooth and compact with a soft, silky touch from the nylon. The stretch is firm but comfortable — it hugs the body without squeezing. Good snap-back when you release it.

It holds up fine for activewear. Nylon gives it good abrasion resistance at this weight. Won't pill or fuzz with normal wear and washing. The spandex recovery stays consistent — stretch it out and it bounces back, even after repeated use. Shrinkage is low, under 3% on cold wash. Color stays true. It's built for garments that move with the body, not for dragging on the ground. For sportswear and swimwear use, it lasts.

1. Is this fabric see-through?

At 170gsm, it has good opacity for most colors. Darker shades are fully opaque. Light colors like white or pastels may need a lining depending on the garment design. For sports bras and leggings, it's generally fine on its own.

2. Does the horizontal stripe affect cutting?

Yes — the stripe runs across the fabric width. If you need the stripe to run vertically on the finished garment, you'll need to cut accordingly. Orient your pattern pieces with the stripe direction in mind before laying out the cut.

4-way stretch with good recovery. The spandex content gives it enough give for fitted activewear. It won't stretch out and stay stretched — it snaps back.
