If you've used our 9gsm version and thought it was just a little too wild to handle, this one has a touch more body. Still floats, still breathes, still disappears into the air — just a bit more cooperative on the cutting table.

It's 15gsm — let's be real, it's not built for heavy use. But it's not as fragile as it looks. Nylon has natural give, so it doesn't shatter the moment you pull it. Handle it with a light touch when cutting and sewing. Once it's in place as a veil or overlay, it holds up fine. Won't shrink, won't wrinkle much, comes out of the wash looking the same. Not for daily-wear pieces — this one's for floating, not fighting.

Bridal veils that need to be weightless. Gown overlays that disappear into the silhouette. Wraps, shawls, party backdrops, gift wrapping. Anything that needs to be sheer, soft, and barely there. If you need something with even less weight, we have 9gsm and 10gsm options. If you need more body, we have 17gsm and 22gsm. This one's the middle ground — light enough to float, stable enough to handle.

1. 15gsm — how do you even handle something this light?

Gently, but it's not as scary as it sounds. Nylon has more give than polyester at this weight, so it doesn't shatter the moment you touch it. Lay it flat when cutting. Don't yank it through the machine. Use tissue paper under the fabric when sewing — it stabilizes the fabric and tears away clean when you're done. Once you get used to the weight, it handles fine.

2. How is this different from your 9gsm and 17gsm American mesh?

It sits right between them. The 9gsm is the lightest we carry — barely there, but can be tricky to handle. The 17gsm has more body and is easier to work with. This 15gsm splits the difference — lighter than 17gsm, more cooperative than 9gsm. If you found 9gsm too wild and 17gsm heavier than you need, this is your sweet spot.

3. Is this see-through? Do I need a lining under it?

It's extremely sheer — at 15gsm, that's the point. It's made for layering, not for full coverage on its own. Use it as a veil, an overlay, or a delicate wrap. If you're making a garment with this as the main fabric, you'll definitely want something underneath.

4. Is this the same as your nylon American mesh H series, just a different weight?

Yes, same series, same fiber, different weight. The "H" designation is the product line. Within the H series, we carry multiple weights — 9gsm, 12gsm, 14gsm, 15gsm, 17gsm, 22gsm. Each one is a slightly different balance of weight, sheerness, and handling. Same soft nylon hand, same sheer look, just more or less of it.

5. Can this be used outdoors? Will the wind destroy it?

It's made for light air movement — that's part of the look. A gentle breeze and it floats beautifully. But if you're setting up outdoors in heavy wind, it's going to be a handful. For outdoor ceremonies with mild weather, it's fine. For a windy beach setup, go with something heavier like our 22gsm or 28gsm mesh.

6. Is this fabric suitable for medical or healthcare applications?
