It's in a completely different lightweight category. While our 18gsm or 22gsm mesh is about achieving a soft drape, this 9gsm is about achieving a floating, almost invisible presence. It provides sheer coverage without any additional weight, which is perfect for layering multiple pieces without ending up with a clunky, heavy hemline.

Correct, this is a solid, matte mesh with no metallic sheen. A lot of designers actually prefer this version specifically for heavy embroidery or rhinestone work, because the matte base doesn't compete with the embellishment. The ultra-fine nylon yarn gives it a soft, cloud-like surface that looks delicate and elegant, rather than flat or cheap.

It really does have a mind of its own in a breeze. For indoor draping or ceiling installations, it's stunning because it catches the air softly and creates beautiful depth with multiple layers. However, for outdoor use where wind is a factor, it's going to be a bit of a handful. We'd always recommend considering how still your venue is before picking a 9gsm for decor.

Very efficient. Even at this ultralight weight, the nylon composition provides enough structural integrity during the weaving process to generate an impressive length per kilo. If you're running a project that requires dozens or even hundreds of yards of this sheer matte mesh, the per-yard cost is going to be surprisingly manageable compared to a heavier sheer fabric.

It has a bit of a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it's totally fine. A little trick we share with designers is to sandwich the mesh between layers of thin tissue paper or tear-away stabilizer while you sew, especially on those first few sample runs. This goes through the feed dogs smoothly without snagging, and you just gently tear the paper away when you're done. Give it a quick test on a half-yard swatch first and you'll get the feel.
