38gsm polyester lustrous plain weave. Smooth to the touch — run your hand over it and it feels cool and slick, but not the floppy kind of smooth. Got a bit of body to it. The lustre is in the yarn itself, not a coating — clean and bright, not oily or flashy. No stretch. 61 inches wide. If you've used our matte polyester plain weaves and wanted something with a bit more life to it, this is it. Hangs nicely, feels comfortable against the skin.
Polyester, so it's low-maintenance. Won't shrink, won't wrinkle much, won't lose its shape in the wash. The lustre stays — it's in the fiber, not printed on top, so it won't wash out or turn dull over time. Cuts cleanly without fraying, sews without bunching. For linings, blouses, and lightweight apparel that get regular wear, it holds up.
Garment linings that need a clean finish with a hint of brightness. Lightweight blouses, summer dresses, scarves, wraps. Anything that needs to feel smooth and look crisp without being heavy. Not for pieces that need stretch — this one's about the smooth hand and the quiet shine. If you need sparkle, we have metallic meshes. If you need matte, we have those too.
1. Is the lustre going to wash out or fade?
No. The lustre is in the polyester yarn itself, not a coating on the surface. It won't wash out, won't rub off, won't turn dull after cleaning. The brightness is part of the fiber — it stays.
2. How is this different from your matte polyester plain weaves?
Same base fiber, different finish. The matte versions have no shine at all — clean and understated. This lustrous version has a natural brightness in the yarn that catches the light softly. If you want quiet and flat, go matte. If you want a bit of life and glow, go lustrous. Both have the same smooth hand and easy handling.
3. Is this see-through? Do I need a lining?
At 38gsm, it gives decent coverage for most applications. For a lightweight blouse or dress, it's fine on its own with nude undergarments. If you're using it as a lining itself, it's perfect. If you're making something fitted in a very light color, you might want a lining underneath just to be safe.
4. No stretch — will that feel uncomfortable?
It has no stretch, but it's smooth and cool to the touch, so for loose-fitting pieces it's very comfortable. Drapes well. Just don't try to make leggings or fitted activewear out of it — you'll want our stretch fabrics for that. This one is about the clean finish and smooth drape, not about hugging the body.
5. Is this fabric suitable for medical or healthcare applications?
No. Our fabrics are designed and produced for apparel, linings, accessories, and craft uses. We do not currently manufacture or supply fabrics for medical, filtration, or industrial applications. If you need medical-grade textiles, we recommend consulting a specialist supplier.
