Yes. This is the lightest fabric in our entire collection. We have meshes at 14gsm, 17gsm, and 20gsm in other constructions, but 12gsm is the absolute lightest. The 28 yards per kilo yield reflects just how little material is in each yard — it's almost all air.
2. 300cm wide — is that a typo?
No, it's really 300cm wide. That's nearly 10 feet. Standard mesh is usually around 150-160cm. This one gives you nearly double the width in a single panel. It's one of the widest meshes we carry, and it's specifically designed for projects that need seamless coverage across large areas — cathedral veils, full backdrops, oversized draping. 3. How is this different from your 14gsm polyester Swiss tulle?
Fiber and width. The 14gsm Swiss tulle is polyester — drier, crispier, with a clean matte finish. It's also narrower at 63 inches. This 12gsm American mesh is nylon — softer, drapier, with a subtle natural sheen. And it's extra-wide at 300cm. If you want crisp structure and a matte look for standard-width projects, go Swiss tulle. If you want soft drape, a subtle glow, and seamless extra-wide coverage, go American mesh.
4. How is this different from your 15D nylon lustrous mesh (17gsm, 118-inch)?
Weight and width. The 15D lustrous mesh is heavier at 17gsm with a built-in natural sheen, and comes in a 118-inch width — good for wide projects with a bit more body. This 12gsm American mesh is lighter, softer, and wider at 300cm. If you need the widest possible seamless panel, go 12gsm American mesh. If you want a bit more weight and structure with a lustrous finish, go 15D lustrous mesh.
5. 12gsm — how do you handle something this light, especially at this width?
Gently, and with patience. The 300cm width means you're handling larger pieces, so give yourself extra space on the cutting table. Nylon has more give than polyester, so it doesn't shatter the moment you touch it. Lay it flat when cutting — don't stretch it out, or your pieces will come out the wrong size. Use tissue paper under the fabric when sewing delicate seams — it stabilizes the fabric and tears away clean when you're done. Once you get used to the scale, it handles like any ultralight fabric. Just more of it in one go.
6. Is this see-through? Do I need a lining?
It's extremely sheer — at 12gsm, that's the point. It's made for layering, not for full coverage on its own. Use it as a veil, an overlay, or a delicate wrap. If you're making a garment with this as the main fabric, you'll definitely want something underneath.
7. Can I use this for a wedding dress veil?
