1. 13gsm — how do you even handle something this light?
Gently, but it's not as scary as it sounds. Polyester at this weight has enough give that it doesn't shatter the moment you touch it. Lay it flat when cutting. Don't yank it through the machine. Use tissue paper under the fabric when sewing — it stabilizes the fabric and tears away clean when you're done. Once you get used to the weight, it handles fine.
2. Is the sparkle going to rub off or wash out?
No. The metallic yarn is woven into the fabric, not a coating on the surface. It won't shed glitter, won't transfer to your hands or other fabrics, and won't fade in the wash. The sparkle is part of the fiber — it stays.
3. 51 yards per kilo — is that real? Why so high?
Real. The fabric is only 13gsm — extremely light. One kilo produces 51 yards, which is about two to three times more than standard mesh. Your cost per yard is very low. If you're running large-volume orders, this fabric keeps your material budget lean.
4. How is this different from your nylon sparkle American mesh?
Fiber and feel. Nylon is softer and has a natural sheen, with more drape. This polyester version is drier, crispier, and fully matte apart from the sparkle — it holds a crease better and resists wrinkles. If you want soft and flowy, go nylon. If you want clean, crisp, and structured with sparkle, go polyester.
5. Is this see-through? Do I need a lining under it?
It's extremely sheer — at 13gsm, that's the point. It's made for layering, not for full coverage on its own. Use it as a veil, an overlay, or a delicate wrap. If you're making a garment with this as the main fabric, you'll definitely want something underneath.
6. Can this be used outdoors? Will the wind destroy it?
