1. How is this different from your 24gsm and 28gsm reinforced meshes? This is the lightest in the series. The 24gsm and 28gsm versions give you more body and durability — better for projects that need extra stability. This 21gsm is for when you want the reinforced structure but at the absolute lowest weight. If the 24gsm still feels heavier than you need, try this one.
2. 21gsm — how do you handle something this light? Gently, but the reinforced weave makes it more cooperative than standard mesh at the same weight. Nylon has more give than polyester, so it doesn't shatter the moment you touch it. Lay it flat when cutting. Don't yank it through the machine. Use tissue paper under the fabric when sewing — it stabilizes the fabric and tears away clean when you're done. Once you get used to the weight, it handles fine.
3. What's the difference between this and your regular nylon mesh? The reinforced weave. Our regular nylon meshes at similar weights are softer and drapier, good for linings and lightweight layers. This reinforced version has a tighter, more stable structure: better for projects that need durability without sacrificing the sheer lightweight look. Think of it as regular nylon mesh with extra insurance.
4. Is this see-through? Do I need a lining? It's sheer — at 21gsm, that's the point. It's made for layering, not for full coverage on its own. Use it as a veil, an overlay, or a delicate wrap. If you're making a garment with this as the main fabric, you'll definitely want something underneath.
5. Can this be used for embroidery backing? Yes. The reinforced weave gives it good dimensional stability under the needle — it won't flag or distort as the pattern builds up. At 21gsm, it's light enough not to add bulk behind the embroidery. For heavier embroidery or larger designs, you might prefer our 28gsm high-density version for extra stability.
6. Is this fabric suitable for medical or healthcare applications? No. Our fabrics are designed and produced for apparel, bridal, event decor, and craft uses. We do not currently manufacture or supply fabrics for medical, filtration, or industrial applications. If you need medical-grade textiles, we recommend consulting a specialist supplier.
