How does it feel?
20gsm polyester stiff mesh. Crisp right out of the hand — not soft, not floppy. You feel the structure the moment you touch it. Ultra-light, but it's got a real backbone. 63 inches wide. 31 yards per kilo. If you've used heavier stiff mesh and wanted something lighter that still holds a shape, this is where you land.
Is it tough? Does it last?
Polyester, so it's not fussy. Won't shrink, won't wrinkle, won't soften over time. The crispness stays. For veils and craft pieces that need to hold their silhouette through a long day, it's reliable. Not built for heavy-duty structural work — it's 20gsm, not 85gsm — but for what it's made for, it holds up.
What can I make with it?
Bridal veils that need structure without weight. Fascinator bases. Craft flowers. Decorative projects where you need a fabric to stand up and stay put. If you need something heavier, we have 85gsm stiff mesh. If you need something softer, we have tulle. This one's for when you need crisp and light.

1. 20gsm — is this the lightest stiff mesh you carry?
Close to it. We also have a 28gsm and 29gsm polyester stiff mesh. This 20gsm is the lightest in the stiff mesh range. Still holds a shape, just with less weight behind it. Good for delicate work where you don't want the mesh to overpower the design.
2. What's the difference between stiff mesh and hard mesh?
Stiff mesh has a crisp hand and holds its shape, but it's still lightweight and manageable. Hard mesh — like our 85gsm nylon version — is heavier, tougher, built for serious structural work. Think of stiff mesh for veils and fascinators, hard mesh for costume frames and petticoat support.
3. 31 yards per kilo — that seems high. Why?
Because it's only 20gsm. Lightweight means more yards per kilo. Good yield, good value — especially if you're running volume orders for bridal or craft production. You get a lot of fabric for your money.
4. Can this be used outdoors? Will it hold up in wind?
It's light, so it'll move in a breeze. That's part of the look for veils and decorations — it floats nicely. But if you're setting up outdoors in heavy wind, it's going to be a handful. For outdoor ceremonies with mild weather, it's fine. For a windy setup, you might want something with more weight.
5. Is this fabric suitable for medical or healthcare applications?
