The origin and significance of fabric exhibitions

2025-11-27

The origin and significance of fabric exhibitions are primarily reflected in promoting the development of the textile industry, facilitating international trade cooperation, and showcasing industry innovation achievements.

The origin of fabric exhibitions is closely related to the needs of the textile industry.  The China International Textile Fabrics and Accessories Expo (interTEXTILE), founded in 1995, aims to meet the demand of China's apparel industry for new and high-end fabrics, while promoting the prosperity of the home textiles market.

The exhibition, jointly organized by the Textile Industry Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Messe Frankfurt of Germany, has gradually evolved into an international professional trade show covering apparel fabrics, decorative fabrics, and home textiles.

Promote trade and cooperation

The exhibition provides a direct connection platform for exhibitors and professional visitors by showcasing global textile products in a centralized manner.  For example, interTEXTILE attracts tens of thousands of visitors from 97 countries and regions every year, with overseas visitors accounting for about 20%, making it a key channel for Chinese and foreign enterprises to expand their markets.

Promote industry innovation

The exhibition features special areas such as the Digital Fashion Innovation Space and the Sustainable Innovation Zone, showcasing innovative products that combine eco-friendly materials, high-tech functional fabrics, traditional craftsmanship, and modern design, thereby facilitating technological upgrading in the industry.

"Pass on fashion trends"

Since 1997, the exhibition has been concurrently hosting events such as fashion trend launches and thematic lectures, providing market-oriented information for the industry and assisting design and procurement departments in grasping international trends.

International influence

International exhibitions such as the World Textile Merchandising Conference have further expanded the global cooperation network of the textile industry, establishing connections with textile associations in 52 countries to promote interconnectivity and interoperability within the industry chain.
